How does Skrill work?

Skrill has been operating since 2001 and serves users in 185 countries. Supports payments in 33 currencies. It is one of the four most popular payment systems, along with PayPal, Payoneer, and Payeer.

What can be done?

  1. Receive money from clients, friends, or relatives. From almost any country and in any currency.
  2. Receive payments from sites. For example, withdraw money from OnlyFans or Fansly. After receiving money in Skrill, it can be withdrawn to a bank card.
  3. Send money. To another Skrill user with a 1.45% commission or international money transfer to any account for free.
  4. Pay for purchases online. Skrill accounts can be connected to different sites and used as payment. Money will be debited from the Skrill balance or from the linked bank card.
  5. Buy and sell cryptocurrencies. You can set up automatic conditions for transactions.

Account verification

You can use your Skrill account immediately after registration.

But depending on the volumes and types of transactions, after some time you may be asked to pass verification.

For verification you will need:

  1. Verify identity using a passport (domestic or foreign) or driver's license.
  2. Confirm address. To do this, you need to use a document issued within 3 months. This is easy to do, for example, by paying for a communal apartment at the registration address through the Monobank application and downloading the receipt. You will receive a bank receipt with the correct address. The amount of payment does not matter. A registration certificate is also suitable.

To send documents, you will need to use the Skrill mobile app. It is available on iOS and Android.

More information about account verification can be found on the Skrill support page.

Skrill Fees

Skrill fees are a bit more confusing than Payeer fees.

Be careful with the method of withdrawing money. For example, when withdrawing money to a Mastercard bank card, the commission is 4.99%, and to Visa 7.50%.

When viewing the table from the phone, a horizontal scroll appears.

Commissions for receiving

Withdrawal commissions

Please note that withdrawals to a Visa card are significantly more expensive than to a MasterCard. Usually, when issuing a card at a bank, you can choose which one you want to receive - MasterCard or Visa.

If you plan to regularly withdraw money from Skrill to a bank card, it makes sense to use MasterCard.

Commissions for crypto
